Eye-opener – Modesty

Did you know that our building really comes into its own in autumn? The brown/red bricks were inspired by the autumn foliage on the Keukenhof Estate and were produced especially for us. In fact, the architect collected a range of leaves and then travelled to Denmark to ensure the right bricks were made.

Seek-and-find in autumn

Once the leaves turn red, finding the LAM can be like exploring a seek-and-find picture. Probably not ideal from a marketing perspective, but modesty is a virtue when you’ve been given a spot on a historic listed estate.

Extremely modest

Speaking of modesty, did you know that modest people end up being more highly valued in the long run? They tend to have stronger relationships and are more grateful and satisfied. But we should already know this – the Cinderella types and other humble siblings in fairy tales usually end up living happily ever after.

False modesty? It’s better to be bold!

And if you are not modest, then just go ahead and brag. Research by Harvard University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill shows that when you disguise bragging with modesty, people find you even less likable.

An extra tip for lovers of bricks and building

Do you want to see how the bricks were made? Take a look at this video about the construction of the museum (in Dutch). In addition to the unusual bricks, the video features the building’s huge tree-like columns.
